About the Artist: Jaime is a studio painter who works with oils, watercolors, gouache, and acrylics. She lives in West Jordan with her husband Kris and newest baby girl Summer. Jaime loves to embrace anything feminine and while other’s might view femininity as frivolous or not to be taken seriously, she believes it is important work to be shown and respected and heard. She might be found in the wild, painting the walls of her new house in decorative patterns or enjoying a run down the Jordan River trail.
About the Artwork:
Woman of Light - I wanted a new interpretation of a female Deity. I have often heard of Mother Earth but I wanted a Mother Sky. A mother who is more than just apart of the earth but apart of the atmosphere as well.
Guided Light - I wanted to create a piece that represented when things feel lost or confusing that we can be guided through the streams of light shining through. The forest might be thick and up to your knees in foliage but you can see your goals and your purpose and keep on towards that.
Mother and Child - I created this painting on Mother’s Day before I even had children. I used to work as a florist and I was interested in the way we discuss the “relationship” between flowers when you create an arrangement. I wanted to represent a “relationship” of a mother and child interpreted as a floral arrangement. We are a piece of each other and family ties are so strong and powerful.
The Path - Sometimes we focus on one way of doing things or the plan we had made or goals we make but I wanted a painting to represent to beauty around the path. Flowers on the side of the path, trees to explore, a field to escape to for a while. Life is about joy not about checking things off of a list. We can appreciate the path and the beauty around us.
Shine through the Gloom - I have always noticed sun beams when they shoot through the clouds. I have been mesmerized by clouds for the past couple of years because they feel like paintings in the sky. When the sun shines through them I feel hope, peace, and love of a creator who is there. Shining down when earth feels gloomy.
Painting in the Sky - When I look at the clouds I can’t help but see a painter who creates a new work of art every day and even every hour! I wanted to contribute my own creation of the sky and appreciate its complexity, beauty, light, darks, and glory.
Creating a Place of Rest - I recently gave birth to my first child and as an artist, I had to take a break from my studio. I thought I would feel this tragic separation from creativity and instead I found creativity in so many aspects of Motherhood. As a mother I have used my creativity 10 fold and found that even creating a peaceful environment takes trial and error and eventually success.
